Our story...

Picture of Our story...

Steven and Kaitlyn met in January 2019, sharing classes together at Idaho State University. In 21st-century fashion, Steven slid into Kaitlyn's Instagram DMs with a classic compliment pick-up line: "Hey! I read your articles from last week's and this week's Bengal and just wanted to say I think you're a really talented writer. 😊"

Although it took Steven 8 months to ask Kaitlyn on a date, the two went on their first of many dates to Bee's Knees in Idaho Falls, where they shared some terrible street tacos (We still love you, Bee's Knees. Everyone makes mistakes.). The leftovers sat in Kaitlyn's fridge for a week, as she could not bear to throw away the only physical remnant of her last first date.

In October 2019, after Steven's mom, Kirstin, mistakenly referred to Kaitlyn as "Steven's girlfriend" before the label was official, Kaitlyn threw a "What are we?" right at Steven's head in a Wendy's drive-thru while they were waiting on their spicy nuggets. They've been inseparable ever since.

Over the last six years, the two have traveled together to New York, Florida, Mexico, California, Minnesota (Skol!), Texas, Nevada, and all across Idaho, Montana, Utah, and Wyoming. Their love for each other was solidified on a beach in Puerto Vallarta when Steven asked Kaitlyn to spend the rest of her life with him. Even with a recently ruptured eardrum, she somehow heard him and said yes.

The loves of their lives (besides each other) come in the form of two pups: Marvel, a 4-year-old German Shepherd who is always ready to give kisses and incessantly ask you to throw his tennis ball, and Ellie, an 8-year-old Bordie Collie mix who spends most of her time cuddled up in a blanket on the couch with her mom or her maternal grandma, Marilou (Kaitlyn's mom).

In the future, Steven and Kaitlyn plan to travel the world together, and with their family and friends, eating the best food they can find, owning as many German Shepherds as possible, and no longer referring to their relationship as a domestic partnership on all forms of legal documentation.
